Minister Andrés Michelena said that virtual medical care will release 20% in hospital care.
The Minister of Telecommunications, Andrés Michelena, said that the objective of the Government is to create digital highways so that any procedure can be carried out through technology, including medical care.
The official said that if the medical records of the citizens are loaded in a system, it is not necessary to go to a hospital in person since the primary care can be solved by telephone or virtual conference: “Thus we leave 20% of primary care free in public hospitals ”
He noted that in virtual care the doctor can define whether the appointment needs to be face-to-face or not.
“Here basically the decision is: we don’t need to build more public buildings to do paperwork. We need to create digital highways so that the procedure that can be done is digitally. ”
In an interview with Ecuavisa, Michelena stressed that the hand of man has to be used in necessary actions, which cannot be replaced by technology: «There are processes that do not need a public official, which may be more beneficial to work in territory.»
He urged the population to get used to the procedure being through technology.
