Prosecutor Salazar: The 30 witnesses are enough to confirm the theory of the Bribes case

She stated that there are other previous investigations around the case

The State Attorney General (FGE), Diana Salazar, said that the trial hearing against 21 prosecuted for alleged bribery is not the end of the 2012-2016 Bribes case. In addition, she noted that this is just the beginning.

She mentioned that she dispensed with the rest of the witnesses because with the more than 30 presented, it is enough to confirm the theory of the case.

«More prior investigations are open and within days, when we have the case ready, it will be presented accordingly,» Salazar announced after finishing the presentation of testimonial and documentary evidence.

Yesterday, surprisingly, the Prosecutor announced that she will only present 34 testimonies, among experts and witnesses, of the more than 160 he planned.

Today, she explained that “with those 30, we have enough evidence to confirm the theory of the case, which is a criminal structure. The prosecutor does not establish it, but a technical-scientific expert” she said.

On the seventh day of the hearing, she presented documentary evidence as certified copies of the contracts related to the companies involved.

In addition, she “attached the invoices of suppliers that delivered the service to Alianza PAIS, Secretariat of Communication for several of their projects and that were canceled by the companies, call Equitesa, Hidalgo & Hidalgo, and they were not benefiting from the services, but were benefit from millionaire contracts ”.

She believes that the trial «is absolutely foreign to political processes.» “It has been possible to see the desperation in which the professionals of the law are falling before the abundant evidence of the Prosecutor’s Office. At first they said there is no evidence, now they say that this test does not work, then they say that it is getting ahead. What are we up to? ”Salazar criticized.

On behalf of the defense of several defendants, they insist that the Prosecutor’s Office has no case and, therefore, had to do without the rest of the witnesses, as well as “the possible committing of the crime of perjury of all those who have passed so far”.
