Assemblyman urgently requests the appearance of the Minister of Economy to the Legislative Plenary

The National Assembly is in a legislative vacancy and is scheduled to resume activities on Thursday, March 12.

The legislator Homero Castanier (CREO) asked the president of the National Assembly, César Litardo, to urgently convene the Minister of Economy, Richard Martinez, to explain the impact on the budget for the fall of oil, what will be the measures alternatives and the scenario of financing needs due to the increase in country risk.

The serious global health crisis caused by the coronavirus and the fall in the price of oil, which impact the Ecuadorian economy, generates concern among several assembly members and ask the Government for action.

Although they are in a legislative recess, until Thursday, March 12, Assemblyman Castanier asked Cesar Litardo to urgently include in the legislative agenda the appearance of the Economic Front, led by Richard Martinez, to the Plenary Session of the National Assembly .

The objective to explain the impact of the reduction of income on the state budget. The measures that will be taken as an alternative not to affect said budget and the financing needs and commitments with international organizations, in the current scenario when the country risk is at 2,792 points.

In the General State Budget for this year, the Government calculated an oil price of USD $ 51.30 and, at the time, the price reached levels that cover only half of what was budgeted.

From the Citizen Revolution Bench, they propose:

“Stop the damaging progress of the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, promote a growth agenda for national entrepreneurs and actors of the popular and solidarity mancada, Re-profile the external debt under sovereign conditions, focus progressive taxes on the few that accumulate much and reject Taxes to the majority of the population ”, among others.
