Complaints of psychological violence rebound during the health emergency

Women are the ones who most alert about abuse.

 Since April 19, the number of reports of crimes of violence against women or members of the family nucleus increased, according to information from the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to that report, psychological violence was the one with the most rebound.

From April 20 to 26, there were 56 complaints of physical violence and 257 of psychological violence. From April 27 to May 03, 50 complaints of physical violence were admitted and 293 for psychological violence.

From May 04 to 10, 75 complaints were made for physical violence and 337 for psychological violence, while from May 11 to 17 there were 88 complaints of physical violence and 458 of psychological violence.

In this last week, however, 101 complaints were received for physical violence and 468 for psychological violence.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, with the measures established by the health emergency, there has been a decrease in the number of complaints about sexual crimes, especially sexual harassment.

Between April 20 and 26, the lowest number of complaints were registered: 4 for sexual harassment; 37 for sexual abuse; 37 for violation.

In relation to the complaints registered for violent deaths, in the week of May 18 to 24 there is a reduction in the crimes of homicide and murder, and an increase in femicides.

However, the highest murder spike occurred between April 20 and 26.

With the online reporting tool that the entity enabled, 2,443 forms were entered. After the corresponding legal analysis, 1,742 complaints of alleged crimes of gender or intra-family violence have been processed.
