Honduran President and his wife test positive for coronavirus

The Honduran health system is collapsed, there are around 10,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and more than 300 deaths.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández announced Tuesday night that he and his wife, Ana García, tested positive for Covid-19.

«I want to communicate that this weekend I began to feel some discomfort and today they have confirmed that I have been infected with Covid-19,» said Hernández.

At a press conference, the Honduran president reported that he will remain in communication with his ministers from his home while he recovers.

«I have mild symptoms, I feel better, however, I have been recommended to rest, but I will continue to contact my collaborators,» said the governor.

The sanitary measures adopted by President Hernández to combat the coronavirus pandemic have been criticized by various sectors.
