Between 2016 and 2020 more than 2,000 workers were dismissed.
After the decision to liquidate eight public companies, the Government will have to liquidate 3,600 employees until August and for this it requires 35 million dollars. This was announced by Marco Andrés Ávila, manager of the Public Business Coordinating Company (EMCO).
Ávila mentioned that having that amount is not something simple, but the Ministry of Finance is providing the necessary budget items to ensure that former employees earn according to what the law provides.
About Tame, the manager of EMCO commented that they finished with the valuation of the 265 assets of the air transport company and that the next step is the sale process to have the necessary resources to allow payment to the workers.
Andrés Muñoz, spokesperson for the ‘Justicia para Tame’ collective, expressed concern about an eventual delay in paying the settlements, as the airline took three months to pay their wages.
Last Tuesday, the process of dismissing public companies in liquidation began. For example, in Tame more than 500 workers were notified.
Between 2016 and 2020 alone, more than 2,000 workers were separated from public companies.
