Richard Martínez was sued by a group of pensioners from the Issfa

Citizens request the Government to pay their contributions.

A group of military pensioners from the Social Security Institute of the Armed Forces (Issfa) filed a criminal complaint against the Minister of Economy and Finance, Richard Martínez.

The military considered that there is embezzlement, once the Ministry of Finance had withheld funds that correspond to the insurance.

According to the applicants, the Government does not fulfill its obligations with social security. Something that would also happen with the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS).

The ex-combatant Pablo Freire pointed out that the resources withheld correspond to the personal contribution to the Insurance of the Armed Forces, as well as the discounts to pay the unsecured and mortgage loans.

The military who arrived at the State Attorney General’s Office stated that the Government deducts from the salaries of the Armed Forces the amount corresponding to the individual contribution, however, that money does not reach the Institute.

They commented that this legal action is a desperate measure in the face of the constant breaches of the Government.

Last Tuesday, this group staged a peaceful protest at the Government Financial Platform in Quito, to demand the payment of 60% of the contributions that the State must make to the Issfa, but when they did not obtain a response, they decided to present the demand to request their own money.
