Ecuador reports 95.563 confirmed cases of coronavirus: Pichincha surpassed Guayas

Ecuador reports 862 new infections and 21 more deaths in the last 24 hours.

In total, the country registers 95.563 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 9.492 deaths. Pichincha surpassed Guayas in the number of cases and becomes the most affected province.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 95.563 infected, 5.951 deaths with a positive prognosis and 3.541 deaths suspected of carrying the virus.

Regarding the situation of those infected who are hospitalized, for the first time 913 stable patients and 348 with a reserved prognosis are reported. In total, there are 1.261 hospitalized in one day, being the second consecutive day with more than 900 stable hospitalizations. While two people were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours.

In addition, there are 6.755 new patients recovered, between August 2 and 10. This indicator is updated every Sunday. In total, there are 66.099 recovered.

In the last 24 hours, 365 new cases of COVID-19 were added in the province of Pichincha. Now this is the province most affected by the virus with 18.275 cases.

This Tuesday, it surpassed Guayas, which reports 17.936 infected. The coastal province was the most affected at the beginning of the pandemic. Quito reports 310 new infections and the total number of confirmed cases rises to 16.520.
