The country’s university students called for a protest and mobilization for September 16. This reaction occurs after the ruling of the Constitutional Court, which allows the budget cut of USD 98 million to the universities of the country.
The Federation of University Students of Ecuador (FEUE) rejected the ruling of the Constitutional Court and warned that this decision affects thousands of students, teachers and administrative personnel, for which they called for a mobilization for the following week.
«The National FEUE, we call on the university community to mobilize in defense of the budget for higher education this September 16 at the national level starting at 4:00 pm.»
In the same way, the Unitary Front of Workers (FUT) announced that on September 16 they will carry out a national mobilization for the increase in unemployment and in defense of health and education.
This mobilization is due to the economic practices adopted by the Government of President Moreno and which have resulted in more than 700,000 unemployed, although, according to the FUT, this figure would reach one million people.
«The government offered 500 thousand jobs and it has been a million unemployed», lamented the President of the FUT.
