Health Coordination did not deliver all the data of patients with Covid to avoid collapse of the system

The coordinator of the entity said that information on the homes of patients can be provided through their talking maps.

Once the COE of Guayaquil criticized the lack of data on more than 400 patients with coronavirus, the Health Coordination Zone 8 of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) reiterated that the necessary information was sent on all positive cases of Covid-19 that they record.

Faced with this questioning, that there would be no dates, addresses or telephone numbers, which would prevent epidemiological monitoring of the patients, Dr. Francisco Pérez, coordinator of Health Zone 8, explained that electronic and physical documents of all were sent coronavirus case data.

He specified that the specific home address of each of the patients could not be sent because these data were not registered in the system.

He said that information was not kept for fear that the epidemiological surveillance system called Viepi will collapse with the number of records that were entered daily due to the pandemic.

«This system is not a software for Covid-19, but an epidemiological surveillance system created in 2013. If we enter all this information, we run the risk of collapsing,» said the doctor.

Pérez insisted that during the meeting of the cantonal COE he tried to explain this situation, but could not do so because he was not given the floor.

He explained that they will be able to provide information on addresses through their talking maps that they use as epidemiological monitoring.

«We have 49 circuits, there we have patient addresses for each circuit to work together with the Municipality,» he said.
