US sanctions Russian oil subsidiary and threatens Respsol for marketing with Venezuela

Elliott Abrams, US Special Envoy for Venezuela, sanctioned Rosneft Trading SA, which is part of the structure of the Russian state oil company, Rosneft, for marketing with Venezuela and threatened the Spanish company Repsol.

At a press conference, Abrams emphasized that the Rosneft trade has facilitated the shipment of 2 million barrels to West Africa last January and one million to Asia in September 2019.

In addition, the company planned to export 55 million barrels of oil together, in the last four months of last year, the official said.

To counter the US blockade, the National Constituent Assembly of Venezuela approved the partial modification of a cooperation agreement on gas matters with Russia, in October last year. And oil companies like Rosneft strengthened ties with Venezuela.
