Martinez stated that the Minister of Energy is analyzing this issue.
The Minister of Finance, Richar Martínez, indicated that the Minister of Energy, René Ortiz, is working on legal and operational issues to eliminate fuel subsidies, since the current situation is a great opportunity to execute said decision, taking into account that the price of oil is low.
«The elimination of subsidies will lower the price of gasoline, we must take advantage of that situation.»
He reiterated that the Government has to take this opportunity because the low prices will not move for a few months: «It is a question that is going to take little time.»
He stated that after the elimination of subsidies, the President of the Republic, Lenín Moreno, will make announcements regarding the financing mechanism for the productive sector.
«You have to execute and operationalize the decision, you have to take the opportunity.»
The official maintained that a decision like this allows transparency of the economy as a whole and guarantees that citizens can have access to better prices.
