The Ecuadorian Federation of LGBT Organizations and the GLBTI Observatory of Ecuador reported on a new event that affects the LGBTIQ population
LGBTI organizations will commemorate Pride Day on Saturday, June 27 of this year, however, in quarantine, the human rights of the members of this community continue to be violated. The LGBTI community has always alleged failings of justice in these cases.
So far in 2020, one of the violent deaths that caused the most social rejection is the one that occurred in Arenillas, after the death of Juan Viteri, a young man murdered with 89 stab wounds by a military man.
This Monday, June 22, 2020, the murder of C.A. Known as “La Viviana”, who was a presumably trans or “non-conforming gender” person, 50 years old, who lived south of the city of Guayaquil
The Ecuadorian Federation of Organizations (LGBTI) reported that:
«On June 19, in La Treinta and García Goyena streets,“ La Viviana ”, she met with unidentified people in her hairdressing salon at night. Relatives noted that an unusual situation regarding the business was occurring, so they decided to approach. The surprise was that the business was closed without access and there were no signs of «La Viviana». After forcing the securities that had been placed, family members found him in the hairdresser’s bathroom in a lifeless dorsal position. »
Data provided would indicate that the victim had been beaten with kicks to the face, an apparent shot in the head, and finally a brutal cut throat.
As a result of the friends of “La Viviana”, they have indicated that several of their belongings were stolen, including a music speaker. They also revealed that «La Viviana» apart from the unidentified subjects who were with her during her murder, had recently been threatened and her partner was in apparent problems of use of controlled substances.
In this sense, the Federation requests the State Attorney General to initiate the investigation process to find the persons responsible for this execrable act.
On the other hand, they also request the Ombudsman to be present in this case and to monitor due process so that there is real support and justice is done in the face of this fact that mourns our population.
Currently the Silhouette X Association, through the Runa Sipiy Report, has recorded 4 murders so far this year, two are directed at gay men and two at trans people.
They are still awaiting justice for the case of Javier Viteri and others, whose lives have been brutally taken; as well as, the 16 cases of murders registered during 2019 through the Silhouette X Association and that there is still no response from the Ministry of Government and even DINASED.
