Ecuador registered an inflation of -0.62% in June

The data was published by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses.

The monthly inflation rate for June 2020 was -0.62% and the annual inflation rate was 0.17%, according to figures provided by the INEC, this Monday, July 6, 2020.

The measurements show that the accumulated inflation (December 2019 to June 2020) is 0.39%. Cuenca was the only city where there was a slight positive variation in prices, with 0.09%, during June.

In the other eight cities where the study of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is carried out, the variation was negative, especially in Manta, Guayaquil and Machala, where the decrease exceeded 1%.

The product categories, such as restaurants and hotels, food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, clothing and footwear, had price reductions and, on the contrary, in health there was a slight increase in monthly inflation in June of this year.

The cost of basic family foods reached $ 719 and the cost of vital food reached $ 507.

In Loja the cost reached $ 749; Cuenca USD740; Guayaquil USD 738.95; Blanket USD728.71. The cheapest ones were Esmeraldas USD704.48; Machala USD702, 52; and Santo Domingo USD702.52.
