Fire in the Otuquis park of Santa Cruz, Bolivia

They estimate that, in the next few hours or days, the fire will be controlled throughout the natural park.

The Otuquis park fire in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, has worsened and has not been controlled so far, reported the National Service of Protected Areas (Sernap).

The fire occurred at the cross-border crossing in the Otuquis National Park and Integrated Management Natural Area (PN-ANMI), located in the municipality of Puerto Suárez, Santa Cruz.

According to the director of the protected area, Alberto Bazán, he has been placated by 60 percent, in the midst of a direct fight against fire.

The Santa Cruz Governorate, the volunteer firefighters and the rangers themselves are trying to put out the fire, according to information that has been confirmed by the Ministry of Environment and Water of the de facto Bolivian Government.

They estimate that in the next few hours or days the fire will be controlled throughout the natural park, although a total of 286 heat sources have been registered and an impact of 8,424 hectares has been estimated, on this day they decreased to 61 sources, the authorities asserted.
