Resolution on requests for impeachment against Richard Martínez was postponed for 15 days

The Board of Directors of the Legislature (CAL) will resolve in two weeks, the requests for impeachment against the Minister of Finance, Richard Martínez, for apparent breach of functions.

Patricio Donoso (I think), vice president of Parliament, affirmed, this Tuesday, September 8, that the decision responds to the fact that the official is in the process of renegotiating the foreign debt and seeking credit for the country.

«It was decided to postpone for a maximum 15 days, it may be earlier, the qualification of the trial to Minister Martínez, by virtue of the fact that he is currently concluding the renegotiation of the foreign debt,» explained Donoso.

Furthermore, “you have to think that the country requires that the multilaterals grant it this USD 4 billion this year, more than an extra USD 2 billion; therefore, we responsibly resolved to simply postpone, not that it has been refused. «

The finance minister has 5 requests for impeachment, which in the last year were presented by assembly members Juan Cristóbal Lloret and Yofre Poma, Vicente Taiano, Jimmy Candell and Raúl Tello.

The accusations are for non-fulfillment of functions in the payment of retirees, alleged negligent handling of budgetary allocations to address the health crisis favoring the payment of debt, improper withholding of allocations to municipalities and lack of delivery of resources to the education sector .

While the six members present unanimously, the CAL decided to qualify the impeachment requests against the Minister of Government, María Paula Romo, and the president of the Participation Council, Christian Cruz.

María Paula Romo has three requests for impeachment in just two years as Minister. The other two were filed for lack of support. This time, Roberto Gómez and Lourdes Cuesta (exCreo) hope to question her for the use of expired tear gas bombs in the protests last October.

While Cruz is being investigated for the use of a card with 81% disability. In both cases, the Inspection Commission must prepare a report in the event of censorship and dismissal.
