Seven days before the end of the state of exception in Ecuador, the accumulated figures of Covid-19 cases fell from one day to the next.
On Sunday, September 6, the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) eliminated 8.956 cases confirmed with rapid tests, which represented 7.6% of cases.
With this elimination, the 118.045 infected nationwide changed to 109.089, which are those patients who tested positive for RT-PCR.
On Tuesday, September 8, the Ministry of Public Health reported that 110.757 cases of Covid-19 confirmed with PCR are registered in the country.
And this Wednesday, September 9, Ecuador reports 112.166 cases confirmed with a PCR test. In other words, there are 1.409 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The health authority recognized in a statement that rapid tests are not used to diagnose the disease and that they are to assess the presence of antibodies or defenses against the new coronavirus.
The approved rapid tests are mainly from China and have a reading time of 5 to 30 minutes, while the PCRs are read in real time and are more expensive.
According to report No. 195, Ecuador reports 6.924 deaths from Covid-19 and 3.777 probable deaths from the virus.
According to the MSP 91.242 people have recovered in the country, there are 16.447 cases with hospital discharge and 166.447 cases discarded for the virus this Wednesday, September 9.
