The United States robs Venezuela of USD 30 billion with its coercive measures, denounces the Venezuelan Minister of Economy and Finance, Simón Zerpa.
“The application of criminal unilateral coercive measures by the United States Government translates into a financial, economic and commercial blockade. The measures range from the theft of more than 30 billion in assets of the Republic abroad, ”Zerpa warned in a telematic meeting of finance ministers of the United Nations (UN) to address the Financing of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development in the era of COVID-19.
The official has described as «crimes against humanity» the boycott for the monetization of the Venezuelan oil trade, the destruction of payment channels in foreign currency and the impossibility by conventional means of raising any type of financing.
He has also commented that the Latin American region, due to the coronavirus pandemic, suffers the devastating effects of the greatest health, economic and social crisis that the world has suffered in several decades.
The scenario in the Latin American region is even more acute, adds Zerpa, with recovery projections that are deeper and slower than in other parts of the world, and that «added to the collapse of our main sources of income, generates significant pressure on our States» .
Venezuela, in addition, is inserted in that context under a particular and complex situation, due to the attacks of a bloody multidimensional war, which seeks the collapse of the Bolivarian Revolution, has denounced the Minister of Economy.
“Unfortunately, Venezuela is not the only country experiencing this aggression and persecution by the US Administration. We condemn and demand the cessation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the US applies against our sister Republic of Cuba, as well as the actions against Nicaragua, China and the brave people of Iran and Russia ”, said Zerpa, underlining that The South American nation will not bend and will continue to seek peace with dignity and sovereignty.
Since 2008, the United States has applied diplomatic pressure and economic sanctions against the Venezuelan nation. So far it has sanctioned more than 200 officials, including the military, magistrates, rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE), ministers, deputies, constituents, and the Venezuelan president himself.
