Guayaquil COE claims the Ministry of Health for lack of data on patients with coronavirus

Mayor Cynthia Viteri requested sanctions against officials, because epidemiological monitoring of this group of citizens cannot be carried out.

Data on more than 400 patients with coronavirus in Guayaquil would be incomplete. This was announced by the cantonal COE.

Mayor Cynthia Viteri explained that the Ministry of Health (MSP) reported that figure to the cantonal COE, but does not record dates, addresses or telephone numbers, so they cannot know where the infected people are located to carry out epidemiological monitoring in the city.

Faced with this situation, she said that she has requested the dismissal of the Health authorities who have to comply with a vital issue such as maintaining control of the pandemic in the city.

Cristian Castelblanco, attorney for the Municipality and lawyer for the cantonal COE, stated that they have already requested a sanction from the authorities who were obliged to present this information in full, because the data provided is not useful for the intervention work.

Meanwhile, the Zonal Coordination 8 of the MSP indicated that data such as names, addresses, identification numbers of the people who were positive in RT-PCR tests and the total number of infected were shared, as well as data on whether the patient is from Guayaquil or from other cantons or provinces
